Tragedy In Texas

Please join me in keeping the victims and their family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.

Tragedy in Texas:
An Army psychiatrist set to be shipped overseas opened fire at the Fort Hood Army post Thursday, authorities said, a rampage that killed 12 people and left 31 wounded in the worst mass shooting ever at a military base in the United States.

The gunman, first said to have been killed, was wounded but alive in a hospital under military guard, said Lt. Gen. Bob Cone at Fort Hood. He was shot four times, and was on a ventilator and unconscious, according to military officials. "I would say his death is not imminent," Cone said.

The man was identified as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a 39-year-old from Virginia.

President Barack Obama called the shooting at the Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers who are about to be deployed or who are returning undergo medical screening, "a horrific outburst of violence."

"It's difficult enough when we lose these brave Americans in battles overseas," the commander in chief said. "It is horrifying that they should come under fire at an Army base on American soil."

Almost as sad as the horror that took place are those that will fly off the handle and/or cynically use this tragedy to fan the flames of their own hatred.

    Not even close...

  2. So sorry for the victims of yet another Muslim extremist.

There is only one religion today that screams God is great while conducting mass murder.

Must be George Bush's fault from what I hear in the mass media.

  3. Anonymous proves my last point.

    Thanks for playing.

  4. I don't think Anonymous proves your point capper.

His comments or feelings don't even compare to what happened at Fort Hood.

Words can be hurtful if you let them be...but they don't kill.

  5. Words can kill, or at least lead to killing. But anonymous, and more than one pundit and/or blogger, has done the same thing.

They only cheapen the lives of the brave men and women who serve, and die, for this country.

What happened in Texas is horrible and unforgivable, but to cheapen their memories and their lives is inexcusable.

  6. I'm not sure what you are talking about. I guess you must have read something or heard something that I did not.

  7. The man was screaming Allah Akbar while on his shooting spree. This is not being reported by the MSM and it should be. unless you would rather lies be spread in the name of political correctness.

Most Americans are smart enough to differentiate between Muslims and Muslim extremists. What cheapens the victims lives is to BS about what really happened in the name of PC.

Know we have enemy's, know who they are and take rational steps to protect ourselves. There are literally millions of Muslims in America who want only to share what's left of the American dream peacefully.

How you can jump from being honest about a situation to fanning flames of hatred is, to me, irrational.

And I only prove your point in your own mind Capper.

  8. Because evil is evil, no matter what guise it takes. Everyone knows he was an Islamic extremist, and from the reports, not very stable mentally himself.

To report what he was yelling is to feed the flames as much as the shooter did.

  9. Anon,

What I am referring to are the ones that attack Islam for the actions of one extremist nutjob.

I am also talking about the people that have threatened, and yes, even assaulted people, for just being Muslim.

  10. We will have to agree to disagree on this one...capper. I don't see anything wrong with reporting what the shooter was yelling while he was murdering innocent women and men. I also don't see a problem with reporting he was an American born Muslim extremist. I would expect the same kind of reporting if some nutjob from any other organization/religion did the same...like it was done with the Holocaust Museum shooter. The more information the better...
